The retreat

Privacy is a very important value. This project reflects a place of personal retreat, contrasting between dark-, and brightness.

As you enter this room you find yourself in a dark ambiance. The floor tiles will guide you towards the stairs and to the following room opening. The tiles are structuring the passageway and defining the different zones of the large loft-entrance.

While walking trough the multifunctional open space loft guided towards the next opening you’ll discover the hidden relaxing corner space.

The entrance and the open space are kept in dark colours of black and an anthracite tones, highlighted with punctual elements of different metallic finishes as well as a bright ceiling.

The principal choices of the floor surface are stone effect porcelain stoneware tiles structured by metallic effect porcelain tiles.

The joints between the different tiles are irregular and creating an unexpected and surprising effect in the large floor surface.

The spiral staircase, the principal spatial element relaying the entrance and the upper level is dressed in a light reflecting brass-coat. The spiral staircase is visually one with the brightening ceiling surface and contrasting the dark floor and wall tones.

Privacy, retreat, – the luminous ceiling and the light reflecting spiral staircase as counterpart to the dark-tainted wall and floor design are based on the product ranges:

– Portraits, Stromboli, Mat Naturale – Stone effect porcelain stoneware tile as principal element

– Trace, Corten, Mat Naturale – Metall effect porcelain tile as relying part

– Trace, Mint Déco – Metall effect porcelain tile as decorative part.
